About Åsa Simonsson

Åsa is a Naturopath and a naturopathic Nutritionist as well as a Registered Nurse working for the NHS. Åsa feels it gives her a huge advantage to experience both the medical and naturopathic side of healing. The medical side is truly amazing when it comes to diseases that can be cured with surgery and certain medications. Åsa loves and is very proud of working for the NHS. At the same time she can see a huge lack of resources when it comes to, many chronic conditions/diseases. This is where naturopathic medicine can truly help and make real difference in health. Åsa has over 35 years of experience working in the medical sector and over 15 years experience of working clinically in the naturopathic field.

Åsa is also a long standing lecturer at the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London. She lectures fermentation and the therapeutic cooking modules on the Natural Chef Program. She is passionate about therapeutic cooking and as she knows it will help almost any type of chronic disease. Food can certainly be the best of medicines. She regularly work as a retreat chef where therapeutic cooking, and raw food is her signature. She finds it incredibly creative to make food that is both delicious and at the same time super healthy.

Last but not least she is also an award winning published author. Her book ‘Fermentation” is a beautifully written and photographed book with all the information you need to create super duper healthy fermented foods at home. It includes the science and history behind fermentation and has over 50 delicious recipes from sauerkraut to kimchi, fermented drinks, sprouted fermented breads, fermented nut cheezes and much much more.

Åsa means the Nordic Goddess in ancient Norse language, the Healer in Hebrew and Arabic, and Hope in Sanskrit and Hindu. Linéa her second name, a family name, her mothers name and also the name of a beautiful flower that grows in Sweden where she is originally from. Linnéa is also the female name version of the great Swedish botanist Carl von Linné or Linnaeus as he is known as outside of Sweden, and who might well be her ancestor...
